Compaq Presario V3000

Compaq Presario V3000 Notebook
Yep, that’s what I got for my birthday last week. I’ve been a good child and should be rewarded just as well haha. I just had the time to write something about this notebook since last week was our prelim week and I have to study (or at least pretend), but I really studied.

I’m not really much of a techie but after some hunt, here’s what I found out:

Compaq Presario V3000 Side Angle

  • Chipset: Intel 945 chipset w/ Intel Centrino Duo Mobile Technology
  • CPU: Core Duo 2250 (1.73GHz)
  • RAM: 1 x 512MB DDR2
  • HDD: 80G
  • Drive: Fixed DVD +/-RW DL Drive
  • LCD: 14.1″ BrightView WXGA
  • Resolution: 1280 x 800
  • Graphic Controller: Integrated Graphic Media Accelerator 950
  • Ports & Slots: 3 X USB 2.0; 1 X Express Card Slot; 1 X 1EEE 1394;
S-Video; VGA out; Infra Red; Mic in & out; Touchpad on/off; 5-in-1 memory card slot; 1 X Expansion Bay

Compaq Presario V3000 Notebook Closed

Heck, I don’t even know what some of those numbers mean, but the thing I like here is the fact that I don’t need any wire of some sort to connect other gadgets. Special thanks to the wireless LAN & Bluetooth, and also the 5-in-1 card reader, transfers from my cam is fast and direct to the computer without the use of another program.

Compaq Presario V3000 with built-in microphone
I’m totally unbounded with this one. And I really hate wires and that solves my very big problem on computers. The only downside for me is that it is quite heavy weighting 2.4 kilograms. On the brighter side, at least I could tone my muscles when carrying it. Haha. It also have 2 built-in microphone, probably to record stereo sounds.

The External memory card reader slot which is very handy and made my file transfer life easier.

Compaq Presario V3000 Wirless Connectivity toggle
It has the switch for the wireless connectivity (LAN & Bluetooth) to turn it off (color red) when not in use.

Compaq Presario V3000 Touch pad with lock
It also comes with a touch pad that have a button to turn it off. Great when typing to avoid accidental press/move, also usable if you’re with a nasty playful kid who wants to touch everything.

Compaq Presario V3000 built-in altec lansing speaker
It has a built-in speaker made by altec lansing

Compaq presario V3000 volume control and quick play
It has a conveniently located touch buttons above the f-keys to adjust the volume or mute when needed. It also has a quick play button (leftmost) in case of DVD watching (what’s the wide screen 14.1″ else for!?!), great function by the way.

There are many else I could put on here, the list goes on but it’s past my (afternoon) bedtime already, hehe, so that would be all. :)

Whenever you are busy but really want to make sure that your pet will be in good shape you could just put him at a pet boarding and he’s stay would surely be worth the while.

Hi, someone directed me to your blog. I just got one of these and i can’t seem to mute the built-in speakers. Every time i press the mute button it mutes my external plug-in speakers and leaves the built-in speakers playing. It’s annoying as i want sound to only come from my external speakers. Any ideas?
    thanks

that is because the driver are intended for vista, if you want to use XP you should download correct UAA driver and conexant HD audio driver version 3.30, to make your audio jack working correctly.
go to hp.com and download softpaq or sp34386, i did it after several hours searching

HP does not support xp on the v3000 line of presarios, and they have chosen not to develop or have developed third party drivers.
